This module involves the introduction to Risk Assessment for Occupational Health and some of the topics for Occupational Hygiene. The students will be introduced to the requirements and methods to evaluate the effect on health of hazardous materials and stressors commonly found in the work environment. These hazards include specific chemical physical and biological agents as well as ergonomic issues, stress. noise and vibration Emphasis is placed on how to assess these workplace hazards and what strategies can be devised for their control regarding a preventive and protective approach. Some issues with the reliability and appropriateness of these quantification methodologies are also going to be discussed.

Face-to-face lectures will be delivered and students will learn through in-class facilitated group work activities and discussions based on guided out-side contact hours reading and research.
