This module introduces students at the beginning of their programme to the evolution, concepts and development in environmental health. It also gives an overview of public administration and how environmental health is managed by the State.
This module aims at - giving an overview of environmental health at national and international level -introducing issues in environmental health in respect of the five core areas in Environmental Health

• Environmental Management and Protection
• Health and Safety Management
• Environmental Health / Public Health,
• Built Environment, Housing and Planning - giving the student an introduction to the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature of environmental health -giving an understanding of public administration as it applies to environmental health and an appreciation of the functions of public bodies that impact on environmental health both at National and International level. This module also gives students an introduction to the Environmental Health Profession and the many available career opportunities as a result of this unique qualification. - Giving the student an introduction to environmental health research.
