This module aims to equip the student with knowledge and skills for professional practice in the social care sector:to introduce the student to key theoretical and practice frameworks and the application of this knowledge in evidence-informed approaches to practice ;to enable the student to understand the importance of ethical and legal frameworks for professional practice and the importance of professional boundaries and professional judgment;to equip the student with knowledge regarding child protection policies and procedures and the role and the responsibilities of the social care worker where concerns arise;to equip the student with knowledge and skills regarding safeguarding of vulnerable adults;to introduce the student to national standards in social care service provision, i.e. HIQA standards in the various sectors; to equip the student with skills to develop professional relationships and utilise theoretical frameworks for assessment and decisionmaking in the context of interdisciplinary and interagency working.
