The purpose of this module is to further advance the screenwriting skills acquired in Screenwriting 1, Semester 3. The module aims to enable students to practice the various tools of screenwriting through the development of a number short scripts for the screen. These scripts will include both live action and animation. In addition, students will continue to critique and assess both their own and peer story ideas and scripts.
Tools of Screenwriting
Further develop and build on the principles and elements of screenwriting: pre-writing - generating and filtering ideas; story structure; character development; writing dialogue; scene direction. Introduction to animation screenwriting and story development: formatting; cartoon genres; writing humour.
Writing Practice
Students will practice writing scripts for both live action and animation. At least one script in each discreet area will be undertaken. Students can choose between live action and animation for the third script.
