This module builds on the knowledge and skills acquired by the student in the module CIVL 1604 (CAD & Engineering Graphics 1).
*Curricular information is subject to change
Computer Aided Drafting:
- Drawing Templates: Create and save new drawings as templates.
- Layouts and Views: Create and manage layouts, viewports and page setups. Use of multiple layouts and multiple scaled viewports.
- Dimensioning Drawings: Overview of the different dimensioning tools. Create and modify dimension styles.
- Annotating Drawings: Overview of the different ways to manage and create text in a drawing using text styles
- Creating Output: Overview of the various plotting tools and settings. Create plots that are accurately scaled with appropriate linetype scaling and lineweights.
Graphics:
- Demonstrate the principles and concepts of graphical communications within the context of Engineering
- Implement graphical techniques to produce 3-dimensional drawings from orthographical projections
- Apply graphical techniques to produce industry standard drawings of engineering details.
Computer Aided Drafting:
Instruction will consist of computer laboratory work. The CAD labs will provide a hands-on environment for the introduction of core techniques. Coordinated assignments will provide students with a task-orientated opportunity to practice new skills and techniques.
Graphics:
Instruction will consist of studio work. The Technical Graphics component will have a manual drawing approach with graphic assessments being produced in class.
