Module Overview

Research Studies

This module provides research support for students, assisting them in identifying a clear scope and focus area for individual study in the architectural design research studio. This is achieved through drafting, developing and finalising the research plan. The plan identifies the research area, defines the questions, discusses the literature and defines a method and methodology appropriate to the research project. Seminars will include direction in advanced academic writing. The module is designed to develop and generate meaningful peer discussion, peer feedback, and peer learning through reflective conversation and critical peer appraisal.

The learning is supplemented by key content lectures in relevant areas of design and theory.

The output of this module will be a comprehensive research plan that supports the development of the architectural design research studio project.
