Prizewinning entrepreneurs take their businesses to new frontiers!

Published: 5 Dec, 2022

Eleven new start-ups graduated from Enterprise Ireland’s New Frontiers Programme at the Synergy Centre at TU Dublin on Friday, 02 December. Amongst the 11 companies were HandsomeScent.com, whose founder Paul Jackman took home a prize of €2,000, sponsored by South Dublin LEO, during the live pitch competition; who said,

New Frontiers has really helped me with understanding my customer and the core focus required for scaling my business. We are really excited about our launch into the UK market, and we couldn’t have done it without New Frontiers

Taking home the top prize of €10,000 worth of legal fees, sponsored by Philip Lee, was Aaloka Anan, from Maya Data Privacy. Aaloka came to Ireland from India and has found the Irish ecosystem “encouraging, supportive and welcoming.” His company aims to raise a seed round of €1m and hire up to 10 people in 2023.

The most useful aspect has been the mentoring and financial support delivered through the programme

This New Frontiers graduating cohort features 11 emerging business and technical entrepreneurs who have completed a six-month intensive accelerator-style programme and will now embark on the next stage of development, independently raising finance, hiring teams and launching their companies. The companies cover a range of industries, from beauty and edtech to analytics and information security.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, VP of Partnerships, Mr Thomas Stone, said:

Programmes such as New Frontiers provide essential supports to emerging start-up companies, as well as delivering a strong pipeline of opportunities into next stage funding supports both regionally and nationally

TU Dublinrecruitst Dublin’s top start-up talent onto the New Frontiers programme on a rolling basis across their campuses in Tallaght, Blanchardstown and Grangegorman. Participants can benefit from mentoring, masterclasses, access to academic and research expertise and opportunities to locate their business on a campus of the University, amongst a thriving ecosystem of start-ups.
