IEO and the School of Physics and Clinical and Optometric Science represent TU Dublin as a partner in the MSCA-DN-JD SENNET project "Porous networks for gas sensing". Aleksandra Hernik, is a postgraduate student working on the project under the supervision of Prof. Izabela Naydenova (TU Dublin) and Prof. Rob Ameloot (KU Leuven).  Recently, Aleksandra has been very busy disseminating her results.

She attended the EUROPT(R)ODE  XVI conference in Birmingham, 24-27 March 2024 and was awarded best poster presentation (third prize). EUROPT(R)ODE is a worldwide conference for the presentation of innovations in chemical & biochemical optical sensing.

The most recent MSCA-DN-JD SENNET consortium meeting took place in Montpellier 8-9th April 2024. Aleksandra reported her latest research results revealing the high potential of using metal-organic framework (MOF) nanoparticles for functionalisation of holographically fabricated structures for VOC detection.

From 10-12 April 2024 Aleksandra attended the MOFSIM conference (MOFSIM2024) in Montpellier where she presented a poster on "Investigation of MOF-coated optical microstructures for gas sensing” in collaboration with Ajay Padunnappattu, supervised by Prof. Norbert Stock  , Kiel University , Germany.

Well done Aleks, keep up the great work!
