TU Dublin Partner in EU Smart Healthy Age-Friendly Environments Project

Published: 15 Oct, 2019

TU Dublin is a partner in the EU_SHAFE project, an initiative co-funded by the Interreg Europe Programme.

The EU Smart Healthy Age-Friendly Environments initiative was officially launched in Aarhus, Denmark on the 23rd of September 2019 during the AAL Forum. All the ten partners, coming from 7 different EU countries, had the opportunity to define together the mission and operational plan of the EU_SHAFE project. The kick-off meeting was organised to launch the beginning of the project and streamline the initial action plan.

The project consortium, composed by a well-balanced group of leaders in the field of demographic change and age-friendly environments worked together to highlight the project goals, present their roles, responsibilities and plans towards the goals’ accomplishment.

It was a fruitful day in which the partners, guided by the project Coordinator (the Provincial Council of Bizkaia) had the opportunity to focus on how to better align with, and influence the regional policy instruments addressed by the action working in close collaboration with key stakeholders involved at local level on the Smart Healthy Age and Friendly Environment (SHAFE) field.

During the meeting, deep attention was dedicated to the planning of the first twelve months of activities, spotting light on the identification of key processes enabling regions to understand how to effectively uptake good practices close-matching with their needs to improve multilevel policy instruments aimed at making cities and communities age-friendly.
